Game Cancelled--See you on Senior night!

Tonight's game was cancelled on account of field conditions.. it is rescheduled for Wednesday 5:30...

Monday's Home Game will be Senior Night!
Each underclassman has been assigned a senior girl to honor with a poster, and small gift, additionally two underclassmen have been selected to have a small treat for each of the seniors.

We are working on a sound system, (any help with that will be appreciated) to announce the girls, their parents and their plans for next year, as well as to allow some of the girls to sing the national anthem.

Additionally, we need a flag.. and a volunteer to do the announcing..

If you have not yet signed up to help in the concession stand on Nov 6 please contact Melissa Smith or sign up at Monday's game..

Futures Information

We will be offering a paper tryout for the Futures Field Hockey Program on Monday at practice. Athletes will need to register if they wish to apply, you can learn more about registration by clicking here. The cost is $28 and if you make the program you will have training and tournament opportunities. Read about Futures by clicking here. We think this is a great opportunity for any player who is looking to improve and grow as a player.

Wet Conditions=No Practice

With all this rain (which you know our Earth desperately needs) our field is too wet to play on.

There will be no practice today 9/18. Enjoy the time off!! We will see you Monday at First Baptist church for practice..

Also the game against Reynolds (originally Tuesday) has been rescheduled for Wed 9/23 5:00 at the Children's Home in Winston Salem.. Bus leaves from East at 4:00

Thursday's game against West will be at 6:30! At West Forsyth High School.. bus will leave from bus lot at 5:00

Ladies,

We will have no practice today (although we advise you to work on your individual skills) and no practice monday due to the holiday. We will have a game on Tuesday at home--WEAR YOUR WHITE JERSEY

Heat Delay- Wednesday

Practice will begin @ 5:00 at the YMCA due to heat. Please use the interim time wisely.. ie.. homework!!!

East Vs. FCD

It is always difficult to begin a season against one of your toughest opponents, but you ladies handled it well. There is still room for improvement of course, and as a whole we have a clearer picture of what we need to work on.

The final and official score was 9-0. With the majority of our play being on the defensive end. A new line-up strategy in the second half did have us playing much stronger and spreading the field. There was a great goal attempt, and near miss. Several saves by Sarah and a great goal stop by Wrenn.

We were glad that each player got an opportunity to play in this first match, and as we tighten up the line-ups we appreciate your willingness to try new positions.

Team Dinner

As a final preparation for a great season we are having a team spaghetti dinner following practice on Monday. You will receive your uniforms, enjoy a great dinner, spend time with your team and watch some field hockey. The dinner will be immediately after practice in the youth building. Plan to be picked up by 8:30, this should get you home in plenty of time to rest up for your first day of school, and your first field hockey game.

Practice Schedule Change

Ladies,

Due to the heat that is forecasted for this week, our practice schedule will be changing. Today we will meet at 6:00 pm. As we can not physically practice until 7:oo pm, Coach Riley and I think that this would be a great time for us to have our team meeting for the first hour. We will discuss uniforms, fund rasing, rules, and expectations, as well as address your questions and select team captains. We will then practice from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Tomorrow we will be practicing in the morning from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. We will discuss the rest of this week's schedule tonight.

As none of us can control the weather, we will all need to be flexible to make sure that we are ready for our first game, which will take place on the first day of school.

Ladies:

Next week will mark 3 weeks until Tryouts begin (Aug 3rd 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.)! I hope that all of you have been taking this time during the summer to condition and work on your skills on your own, as we need everyone in top shape so we can be competitive this year.

As you know we have been having optional conditioning and skills training practice at our field @ first Baptist Church on Oakhurst. We have been holding these practices on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., but due to low turn out we now will only be meeting on Tuesday and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. If you will be attending these paractices please either send an e-mail to Coach Riley (mriley@triad.rr.com) or myself (neda.j.pitt@aexp.com) or post on the website which practice you will be attending. This will save Coach Riley and me the drive out to the field if no one is going to show for that days practice. Thank you in advance for your consideration of our time.
